Radiant Cleaners: Life-changing cleaning
Our Mission
Radiant Cleaners is so much more than a cleaning company. We provide commercial cleaning services for the corporate and construction sectors, but more importantly, we are a social enterprise dedicated to addressing long-term unemployment and supporting those facing multiple barriers to work.
Long-term unemployment profoundly impacts individuals, families and communities. Radiant Cleaners, as part of the Grace Enterprises family of businesses, seeks to address these by providing sustainable employment and holistic support to individuals struggling to secure and maintain jobs. As we do this, we see lives transformed and foster a positive societal impact.
Real Stories, Real Impact
Since we began in 2017, we have employed over 100 individuals, many of whom have faced significant barriers to employment. The words of our longest-serving employee perfectly describes the difference our work makes in employees’ lives.
“In my life, I’ve been abused, suffered domestic violence and been isolated. I had no qualifications and thought, ‘What’s the point of life?’ Now that I’ve got a job, my life is a lot better; I’m not isolated, and I have the chance to get out and meet different people. It makes me feel a lot better. I feel like someone again. My confidence is a lot better; I’m more positive. I’ve got more hope.”
In 2023, we provided 16,500 hours of real Living Wage work to 30 employees, fostering stability, routine and growth opportunities. Each of these employees has their own story, some of which we will be sharing with you in more detail in upcoming blog posts. For example, we have seen employees with long histories of unemployment and addiction develop a renewed sense of purpose and confidence.

Measurable Benefits and Holistic Growth
Alongside the job itself, our innovative Living Life Index (LLI) supports our employees by addressing 12 key factors of their personal and professional growth. This tool helps us and our employees track their progress and also highlights any areas where they need additional support. The LLI is used in regular Living Life Reviews, through which we’ve seen marked improvements in our employees’ wellbeing and skills, including areas such as:

Mental Health
The LLI and regular review process enables us to continually hone our supportive employment model, bringing maximum benefit to employees and improving our social impact. These elements align with the social value goals of many of our customers, who use our cleaning services to help them meet their Corporate Social Responsibility commitments.
Partnering with us
We partner with many organisations in and around Nottingham, providing high-quality cleaning services and helping them deliver on their social value initiatives. For example, Willmott Dixon started working with Radiant Cleaners in 2018, initially for the cleaning of site cabins at their Nottingham Science Park building project. Since then, we have been their preferred cleaning company on all sites in the Nottingham area. Our partnership work has enabled further work to be created for our employees, including Karen:
Karen was unemployed for 18 months when she met Radiant Cleaners. She was struggling to find employment during the pandemic and started to lose hope of ever working again. After Radiant Cleaners secured a contract to work on Willmott Dixon's site at Bingham Leisure Centre, Karen was able to become employed and started working in their cabins 15 hours a week. Surrounded by a supportive team, paid the real Living Wage and working daily, Karen has found a renewed sense of purpose and hope for her future. She has since secured extra hours across Willmott Dixon's other projects in the region.
Karen’s story is an example of the potential impact of procuring through and partnering with social enterprises, benefiting individuals and local communities. We love to work with partners who share our vision of helping individuals gain access to good and sustainable employment which they previously may have been unable to access.
